Since you are the one who has to live with the set up, leave your spouse at home. Then again, since you also have to live with your spouse, maybe getting their opinion wouldn't hurt after all!
One last consideration is your paint color. Paint color can have a major influence on productivity. Light, bright colors are the way to go. Stay clear of the dark colors.
Once your work at home office space is set up, you will want to spend the last 10 minutes of your day brainstorming and doing a quick clutter pick up. This is a good way to make sure you clear your mind and start the next day on the right foot. Have fun with your new set up!
