Data entry work at home jobs are the most sought after work at home job positions on the web. There are literally hundreds of ads claiming to offer real work at home data entry positions, and the websites that these ads lead you to claim that you can get paid hundreds, if not thousands of dollars per day simply filling in forms online from home. So is there any truth to these claims, and if there is, why do these ads appear all over the Internet? Wouldn't these positions have been filled pretty quickly if there was any truth to this? I mean, who wouldn't want to sit around in their PJ's making a small fortune filling in short forms in their spare time? Hmmm, something does not add up here. We did some investigative work to get to the bottom of all of this and here is what we found.
First of all, these websites claiming to hire you to enter data from home are not hiring you to perform any type of job, whether it's filling in forms, typing from home or doing simple data entry. These data entry employee predators take your money with the promise of a lucrative data entry job. After paying the fee to them they want you to spend your time and money placing ads for other companies. That's right, no simple data entry job, just a loss of $20 to $200, to tell you how to use your own cash to advertise other companies' products. No one is really going to pay you hundreds of dollars to enter simple data into online forms. Think about it, if it was so simple, why are there so many of these types of websites trying to sell you a data entry job? All the positions would be filled and the waiting list would be two miles long.
Folks, the truth is this type of job just does not exist. The reason you see these ads all over the Internet is because this is what so many people are looking for - a simple data entry job with great pay - and these people who make these websites and ads know this. They make a lot of money selling a "data entry job" to anyone who will fall for it. And not only that, they teach the people who buy into this how to advertise for them as well, so that they can make even more money. Don't be a victim of this clever scam. The wise old saying of "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." fits this opportunity to a tee.
Don't be discouraged though, there are real, legitimate ways to make money from home. For more information and to get started visit our home page. Also, you can take a look at our directory of real companies that occassionally hire data entry workers here. We have to warn you though, it is very difficult to actually get hired to do data entry work from home due to the lack of available work and an abundance of job seekers trying to land a position doing this type of work.
Below is a More In-Depth Analysis of These Websites Claiming to Offer Real Data Entry Jobs From Home:
The first red flag is the word "entry level" which is commonly used on these data entry work at home sites. According to Salary.com, the typical entry level data entry clerk, with a high school diploma or equivalent with 0-2 years experience in the field could expect to earn $25,600 per year. This would break down to $492.31 per week and $98.46 per day based on a five day work week. This is working an average of 40 hours per week, meaning an average of $12.31 per hour. Keep in mind that this is an employee working in an office under the supervision of an employer. A pay rate of $12.31 per hour doesn't sound bad, but these sites are claiming you are going to make hundreds per day working a data entry job from home. Several sites we encountered guaranteed that if you joined their site you would make $300 per day. At $300 per day working 8 hours per day would come out to be $37.5 per hour. Why would an employer pay you over 3 times the amount they would pay an average entry level office data entry employee? They could claim that the employers are saving on expenses not having to pay for extra office space, computer hardware, software and other expenses. But do you really believe they are going to pay you $37.5 per hour being an entry level data entry employee without any type of training or supervision? The answer is simple: No.
The second red flag is the term "no experience needed". Who would pay you $37.5 per hour with no previous experience? According to the U.S. Department of Labor the federal minimum wage for non exempt employees is $6.55 per hour. A pay rate of $37.5 per hour is almost 6 times that of the minimum wage set by the federal government.
The third red flag is the fee. Why would any employer charge you a fee to work for them? Yes, there are sometimes fees associated with employment - background checks, buying necessary equipment to do the job, etc. - but actual employers don't charge you money to work for them. Why would they?
The fourth red flag is "filling in simple forms". If filling in simple forms was all that was involved in data entry work at home everyone would be working at home as a data entry employee. There would be no need for these data entry websites to try and sell these bogus jobs. Who wouldn't want a job that paid them a crazy amount of money to just to fill in forms from the comfort of their home? If it doesn't add up then something is not right.
The fifth red flag is the data entry websites claiming how easy it is to fill in these forms. What job have you ever had that the employer tells you up front how easy the job is? Once again it is more proof that these data entry websites are just trying to sell you something.
The final red flag is claiming you only have to work a couple of hours per day to earn a fortune. We calculated that according to a moderate estimate based on one of these data entry type websites you would earn an average of $37.5 per hour, working 8 hours per day. But, they are claiming you only need to work a couple of hours per day. A couple of hours per day would be two at the most. Then, according to this data entry website, if you were working just a couple hours per day as an entry level data entry worker with no experience you would be earning $100 per hour. It's just not true!
So what's the bottom line? These so-called high paying data entry jobs from home simply do not exist. These "job offers" that you see everywhere are merely misleading advertisements that con you into thinking you are paying for a data entry position. In reality this is simply a risky business opportunity where you will be advertising for other companies, using your own money. You will only be paid when - and if - your ad makes a sale.
